The Blues

lyrics

I was born at the end of history...and it gets worse.
I was born breathing fire and water, it's a real curse.
So many snakes to handle, got me feeling like a preacher
coming down from the mountain
(seems no matter how loud I've been shoutin'
the sound just don't seem to reach ya).
I've got bad news, bruises, and scars to prove
I crash landed into this world face-down, singing The Blues.

Relaxin' in the Shadow of the Valley Of Death to ease my chemical mind.
Buzzards perched above me, looking down and laughing all the time.
Carrying all this dead weight got me feelin' like a pall bearer
while the Pharisees and penitentiaries try to sell me the same old terror.
I ain't buyin' your Good News, I've got my own issues.
I've been selling my would off just to pay my dues and
this is how I sing The Blues.

Come on take me back to where I come from.
Can you take me back to where I come from?

A little spark all alone in the dark, but I'm gleamin'.
I'm not concerned with the bridges I burn cuz I'm leavin'.
Out the door not making a sound; Eyes wide open, low to the ground like a vampire walking into the light cuz I'm just damn tired.
Don't need distractions, don't need the news
in a black iron prison, serving life, singing The Blues.
